In Addis Ababa, the city administration reports that efforts are underway to complete the corridor development work before the winter season. The Piassa and 4 Kilo lines, as well as the corridor from Mexico to Sarbet, have already been finished and inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
Previously, it was noted that:
A corridor extends from 4 Kilo to Piassa around the Adwa Victory Monument.
Another corridor runs from 4 Kilo Square at the British Embassy junction.
A third corridor stretches from Mexico to Sarbet in the Gotera Wollo Sefer square.
Additionally, a corridor connects 4 Kilo to Meskel Square and then to Bole Bridge.
In total, five corridors are under construction, including the route from Bole Bridge to the African Confederation.
Efforts include widening and improving footpaths for pedestrians, expanding vehicle roads, and renovating asphalt roads in need of repair. Unnecessary road dividers are being removed to widen the roads, and parking lots are being added. The roadsides are being beautified, while telephone and electricity cables are being buried underground. Modern drainage channels are being constructed, along with cycle paths and plazas. Additionally, standard toilets are being built.
According to information from the administration of Tikvah, Ethiopia, all corridor works are set to be completed before the winter season. The city administration reports that work is being conducted around the clock, seven days a week. It has been noted that more than 16,000 job opportunities have been created for youths.
Additionally, efforts are underway to renovate buildings, converting them into commercial and business centers that meet established standards, including building colors. Commercial and service establishments on the main roads and in areas undergoing corridor development have also been mandated to extend their operating hours until at least three o'clock in the evening, beyond their normal working hours.
